Senior Interview Experience Merit Badge:

 

1.     Compose an essay of 300-500 words describing the following:

a.    A provisional life-time vocational goal that shows vocational interests, financial objectives, and personal accomplishment goals;

b.    Specific goals for your senior year, including classes that need to be taken, grade goals, and personal accomplishment goals (relationships, experiences to be had, people to meet, etc.)

c.    Specific goals for the year after graduation from Alisal.

 

2.     Find an adult individual who has a job in an area in which you are interested.  (If you need help finding such a person, call Ms. Johnson or me).  No family and must be employed and over 21.

 

3.     Arrange an appointment for an interview with that person, preferably at that person’s place of business.  Ask for 20-30 minutes for the interview.

 

a.    Verification:  take a picture of the interview subject.

 

4.     Create a set of interview questions to give to your interview subject, before the interview, that will help prepare you for that vocation.  Questions must include:

a.    What personal interests led the subject to that job;

b.    What the educational requirements are for the job;

c.    Where, and how, the subject met those requirements;

d.    What the pay and benefits are for the job;

e.    What the social benefits are in the job;

f.       What the daily activities are in the job.

g.      Verification:  Transcript of the questions and the answers from the subject.

5.     Compose a brief discussion of what you learned from the interview, one page would be adequate.

a.    Verification: discussion.

6.     Compose a thank-you letter to the interview subject email is acceptable.
