The five-week Summer Health Institute includes case studies presented at the hospital by physicians, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, clinical dieticians, case managers, medical social workers, laboratory scientists, administrators and hospital board members.
In addition, students will experience Hartnell College nursing skills lab, externship experience with health care professionals in the hospital and Visiting Nurse Association, and site visits to Stanford University School of Medicine and NASA/Ames Research.
Students will also have the opportunity to research and present their own case studies in teams. Students who attend this institute will be eligible for paid externships and work experience credit.

- Demonstrated an interest in the medical field by participating in at least two of the following?
- Health Academy
- R.O.P. Health Occupations Course
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a hospital volunteer program
- Medical terminology training
- Advanced biology, including human anatomy instruction
If not, can you provide a letter of recommendation from a school counselor and a science teacher verifying you have the above knowledge base to keep up with a very fast-paced medical curriculum?
